Police search for suspect in break-in
Houston County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrestof the person responsible for the Friday morning, Jan. 22 break-in at the Crockett Civic Center.

Anyone with information in this case is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 545-TIPS immediately or make a report ONLINE.Anyone providing information regarding any crime will remain anonymous.

Police search for suspect in thefts
Houston County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of Darren Keilf Nelms, 40, of Crockett.

Nelms is wanted in on both misdemeanor and felony warrants in connection with the theft of property including utility trailers and lawn mowers.

Nelms is believed to be in the Houston area since evidence of stolen merchandise has surfaced from that area.

Nelms, is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall weighing 211 lbs., with brown hair and eyes.

Authorities search for trailer/supplies

Houston County Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person(s0 responsible for the theft of a 18 foot bumper-pull trailer from a location just north of Crockett on Hwy. 287 (Hwy. 19).

The theft is believed to have occurred on Nov. 4.

According to authorities, also taken were fencing supplies, two deer feeders, electric power tools and a wooden Adrondkie chair.

The value of the items taken is estimated at $2,800.

Law enforcement class to be held
CROCKETT - Area residents who have wanted to get into law enforcement, but didn’t have the time or couldn’t travel to Lufkin, now have an opportunity.

Angelina College Police Academy along with Houston County Sheriff’s Office and the Crockett Police Department are bringing a night-time law enforcement academy to town.

The training will be held from 6-10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings and some Saturdays. Applications are currently being accepted. Applications need to be submitted by Feb. 15. Classes will begin in March and will last until December.

Tuition is $1,200 and additional supplies range under $800. Financial Aid through AC is available and job training funding is available through the Texas Workforce Commission. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, at least 20 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.

Applicants must not have been convicted of any Class A misdemeanors or any felonies or any family violence offenses.
